I know someone was looking for minty stones to set around a pink fcd, not sure if this would work, but I thought I would try. Kind of pricey, but maybe he has another smaller parcel, or can split this one up.

Ohhh, I'd love to take a few of those home.

re: the price, if someone's interested, they can make an offer.
It would be cool if a group of PSers bought this and split up the lot. It would be difficult to evenly split it up in terms of color, but this would be an affordable way to get some Paraibas.

LOL, you know there's something wrong with a price if its more expensive than a Richard Homer stone, as he charges a huge premium for his cutting.

Precisely! RH is great to work with though, and I can't wait to receive the stone towards the end of April 2015.

DK

Congrats!

It is very pretty.

Maybe Jeff Davies accidentally gave the wrong price on that amethyst because his pricing does tend to be very fair.

$985! Yep, I see he listed the same stone elsewhere for $55, so something definitely went wrong somewhere.

I have sent him a message via eBay about the price discrepancy.

JD has a FB page, and some of his stones are listed there first before they appear on his eBay shop, usually at a lesser price.

https://www.facebook.com/jeffery.davies.9

He has revised the price for the amethyst in question is his eBay listing now.

Well, $95 OBO, seems more appropriate. I think he accidentally pressed an extra 9 or 5 when he put up the price for that listing. LOL!

Thanks for telling him of his error.

Ooh really tempted to get these zircons. Do you guys know how much it would cost to them in a dbty necklace? Any recommendations for jeweler to do it?

Price would depend on the metal you use. If you want silver, argentium silver is a better option as it is resistant to tarnishing. Not all jewelers work with it though. I'm eager to see if you end up going through with the project :)

The labour is likely to be the most expensive part of a DTBY in this case, even if using silver. I abandoned a project to create a tsavorite DBTY when the labour cost turned out to be 5x the price of the melees.

I was quoted a price of what I estimate to be AT LEAST twenty times the cost of materials because it involved a lot of melee, so I abandoned the project.

I don't often do this for a finished piece of jewelry, but this ring on LT should be snapped up!

Based on going rates I've seen for the last year, the tourmaline alone is just about worth the price! But, in addition to that lovely 1+ ct, 8x6mm teal tourmaline, there is the 14k and diamond setting. A substantial 14k and diamond ring with a bright and saturated teal tourmaline for $535!

edited because I wrote 18k when I meant 14k!

Pregcurious,
I'm sorry I do not recall the dollar amount now as it's been more than 5 years since.

I'm not surprised at all! When you have a perfect alignment of a great seller, a great price and something beautiful, it tends not to hang around. But then again, I'm preaching to the choir, Arc!

I am sure the cobalt is sold - top color and quite cheap for such a quality - not joking!!!!

The Taaffeite is great but expensive - the tanzanian diopside is awesome too - I have a small one - the color is really neon green!!!

I would if I could, as I believe these would go well with my Rhodolite garnet from Uli in a 3-stone ring, as seen on Jeff D's FB page today:

I'm not a big fan of orange stones, but this looks like a very nice Spessartite Garnet for the price. Too much yellow (which I prefer in these) to be considered ideal color, but very nice looking little stone none the less.

Greg: I just KNOW that color would taste good! I agree a pretty stone. I wonder how much of a bowtie it has.

I see what you're talking about, in the picture it looks negligible but it could be worse or better in person, it's hard to tell. I really like that shape for neckwear.
