i'm curious why on video it looks more red and the picture looks more purplish pink. i bought a stone (not from him) that looked very red/orange on the picture and in real life looked very purplish. in real life, i viewed the stone outdoors (sunlight), candle and everywhere pretty much...still was very purple...so, i sent back.

some vendor pictures and the real color differ too much :((

Oh wow that's a lot! Good to know about the photos vs IRL--I think one of the things that's been holding me back is not knowing how something will look in person, and being concerned about going through the hassle of a return. I think I'm one of those people that feels sheepish about returns, and will often (to my later regret) decide I should just keep it and try to learn to love it.

This one is a great example of size, cutting, and uncommon and outstanding color (IMO); the price is not the best part on this one, but weighing all the other factors, I would think there should be interest in this stone.

From Jeffdvs101 on ebay, a 4.15 ct. precision cut VVS neon chrysoberyl from Madagascar, dimensions of 9.05 x 8.50 x 6.88mm. Offered at 1,850 - not the best bargain, but IMO stunning!

I know this is an old post and the stone is probably long gone, but this has to be about the nicest colored, brightest chrysoberyl I have seen. I have a standard greenish yellow one, and its clean and all, but its nothing compared with the neon(I hate using that term, but it applies here) color of this stone. Its almost lime green. I assume the picture isnt touched up. Great size too! Wish I had one like this, I might have it mounted into a pendant or some-such....

If I'm not mistaken, RS, I believe it was purchased by one of our PSers. If you keep reading, I *think* it should be mentioned a bit later in the thread. :))

Yeah, I just found it on page 2 I believe, mounted in a ring. Looks more yellow in that picture, with a flash of green. Great chrysoberyl.

Have you asked Jeff? He posted some pretty nice ones again recently, maybe he has more?

I LOVE this color. I'm curious about how much something like this costs--I assume "SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE!! via PM" means it costs a lot :-p

he has it listed for sale at US$23,495 obo

It looks very purple to me in the photo as well. The price is probably due to the fact it has some red, and it's large and clean.

I notice that his are from Madagascar - I always think of Tanzania as having the most neon, but his from Madagascar sure look they could give them a run for their money.

As you know, I am not a big fan of these halo's, but is it common to put an oval stone in a square emerald shaped halo?

Well, during the Art Deco period, it was quite common to put round or roundish shapes in square halos, so I think this is a take on it. The side view is also Deco inspired.

Ok I am going to shoot myself in the foot for sharing these but I simply don't have the budget myself so hoping someone else will buy & enjoy them (and show them off here! :naughty:)

http://gemhunters.com.au/product/10mm-faceted-blue-apatite-gem/ $AU45 for a pool of paraibia-colour deliciousness...

http://gemhunters.com.au/product/chrysoberyl-oval-gemstone-2/ $AU58 for brilliant green chrysoberyl

http://gemhunters.com.au/product/heart-shape-gemstone-pink-garnet/ Oh my PINK!!!! $AU395

And, I'm loving the Apatite - don't know anything about them, but that is some very nice color!

TL: I agree, I think its an excellent price for that blue spinel ring. If the photo is accurate for color and is not oversaturated, that is a very nice and large blue spinel.

Will see if I can post a picture.

I especially love her padparadcha spinel ring. Great buy, especially for people looking for a padparadcha on a budget.

The stone is yummy, of course. :cheeky: :cheeky:  I think the setting kind of overpowers it, though; a little too much bling for it. I'd also like to see a paraiba in rg or yg better than white gold.

Agree. I'd love to see it in a yg setting with small bullets for side stones.

I was thinking it was an AMAZING price as I thought it was a Paraiba Paraiba! I was going to tell you all that you were nuts - for that price, buy it and scuttle the darn setting!!!!! :cheeky: Then I realized it was a Mozambique stone. :(sad Still, to see any copper bearing of good quality under $10K these days is getting to be rare...

I have this guy on hold forever now. I've asked a million questions but can't seem to decide. Do you see any browning going on?

I don't see any browning in the stone. Maybe the rose gold is causing a more milk-chocolate effect to bleed through, or provide a possible tingle of brown as a contrast to the striking hue of the stone?

If it were set it White/Platinum, it would be much easier to tell.
