I bought this beauty from Circe and have not taken it off since it came. I just love it! There are some scratches on the bottom of the stone that my jeweller said would cost $150 to buff out because the stone has to removed. I am so tempted to try myself but I won't. Thoughts?

That's beautiful! I would let a skilled jeweler deal with the removal of the stone. Even if you wanted to, moonstone is a rather soft gem and you could easily scratch it, besides platinum is too hard to loosen. If it were silver or high karat gold, it would be easier.

Thanks TL! I know it is soft so I was hoping I could take some very fine sandpaper and try with the stone in but I am afraid it will do more damage so I will leave it.

Noooooo! Don't do that. Do you see the scratches, are they eye distracting to you and hamper with the beauty of the stone? If not, then leave it alone. If you want to get it rebuffed, have the stone taken out professionally by someone that knows what they're doing (not all jeweler do), and then send it to Jerry Newman for repolishing. Otherwise, leave it as is, and enjoy! :)
