I''m still not so hot at taking pics. This was more about showing off the setting than the color of the stone. The color changes in certain lighting, but I can''t get my camera to focus on the ring in all types of lighting. So I went the easy route for these pics.

That''s all I took! I don''t know that I got the best diamonds or the best deal. But I really am pretty proud with how it turned out. It was a definite learning experience! I still don''t quite "get" how to tell for sure a stone will fit in a setting if it looks a little tight. I posted about that, but didn''t get any replies. So I''m still learning. But I had so much fun with this one. And it really sparkles like a disco ball in any kind of decent lighting.

I don''t know if you can find the setting. I got it at the InterGem show that came to town. The vendor''s name was Golden Gate Jewelry. The card says the website is www.goldengatejewelry.com but I don''t see a working site at that address. I have phone numbers on the card, but no email. Is it a top of the line setting? No. Is it LOGR quality. I don''t have an LOGR setting to compare, but I got this setting cheaper than any LOGR setting that I liked. So I was happy about that. My jeweler said it was pretty well made. He warned me again pave, but I knew the risk with that going in. This ring won''t be an everyday ring mostly because of the color of the stone. I don''t wear a ton of green.

I was actually going to mention something about the covered bottom. I think for a light stone, this is fine. It acts like a bezel and deepens the color a little bit. I think the color of your stone looks even better in the setting. |

What about cleaning? I''m worried about water/cleaner getting in there and never coming out. Basically I don''t have access to the bottom. It does sort of act like a bezel. And since light enters from the top it doesn''t "block" anything. When I set it in a regular setting you definitely noticed a better color with the closed bottom of this setting. Which is another reason I went with this one. Funny though that you think the color looks better in the setting. I don''t see as much blue now that it''s set as I did when it was lose. |
