I'm looking to buy a really nice faceted Mexican fire opal for use in a ring or pendant. If I go the ring route it won't be something I wear all the time as I know this isn't a very tough stone. I've looked at almost all of the sites listed in the Pricescope where to buy colored gemstones sticky, but I haven't seen anything I really like. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on where I could find myself a good stone. My overall project budget will probably be 500 max.

Also, I'd love to see pics of other PS'ers fire opals/fire opal jewelry!

There are different types of Mexican opals - some call the orange ones "fire" or "cherry", others include crystal or water opal which is the white or yellow base. Not sure what ones you have in mind? I have several so it depends on what you're looking for!

In the meantime, here's a good place to buy. This is the Mexican page:

Thanks, LD. I'll check the site out.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm looking for the orange variety.
