Just thought I would post a picture of one of my rings that I have collected.
Hallmarked: Plat. Peacock Sapphire (7mm) with Diamond Accents
around 1930s with inscription. I love collecting and occasionally wearing
them. How rare is this color? In person it displays deep greenish-blue.
I hope that you Enjoy!

That colour is actually quite common.

Chrono is correct, it's a lovely ring but the stone colour is not particularly rare. It looks perhaps like an Australian sapphire.

It's a beautiful ring. How many carats is the sapphire? It looks like a large stone. Love the color!

Thank you for your comments...the Sapphire is around 1.25 carat
It is much more impressive in person.

Hi there:

I have one that looks similar, and since its the only one I've seen like it, I was laboring under the false impression that it was rare too! Who knew? :o Anyway, here's mine, 2.4 cts unheated Tanzanian teal sapphire

I'm guessing that they (the person who made the ring) wouldn't have used platinum if it was a cheap stone?

Not necessarily; I often like to buy antique platinum settings and set new / modern stones in them because I like the style plus second hand settings are less expensive than new. In addition, platinum was far less expensive years ago (at least 3x less than current metal prices).

I know this is a really old topic on this board, but where did you purchase your sapphire come from, minousbijoux? I have been looking for green-blue sapphires that are lighter colors and am having difficulty. I like the look of Montanas, but am leery of the silver/gray factor. Does your sapphire from Tanzania have silver/gray coloring?
