Hi,

I am looking to buy a blue sapphire and I attached an image of this gemstone. can someone tell me if its of a decent quality or is it not worth buying it.

Country of Origin: Sri Lanka
Shape & Cut: Oval
Weight(Carat) : 4 carats

it says that this stone is untreated and unheated.... and all natural. I have no idea on blue sapphires and I am trying to buy one and this one is priced at $8,000

It is suspiciously inexpensive for the colour, size and etc. which I think might be accounted for by these two reasons:
1. No lab report proving that the stone is not treated
2. There sapphire is not eye clean.

Are there other pictures of the sapphire?

Hi , there are 2 websites and the stone looks very similar on both websites, one from India and other website is 8,000 in USA.

so I am just trying to buy from USA website - but my questions is why so much price difference

I want to shop locally in USA , in dallas texas - if possible - but I don't know where to shop for a blue sapphire. I need a 4 carat Blue sapphire. not a bank breaking sapphire - but something which is clean, untreated and unheated and natural

and info is greatly appreciated...

The second picture appears to be a completely different stone - different weight and size dimensions than the first one you posted.

I will say the second stone appears (to me) to have better color. It also has a cert though I have no idea how reputable that lab is (emteem gem laboratory) and others here will have to comment on that.

You didn't list color in your requirements. Just size and treatment. Would you take any sapphire or a blue sapphire. If blue, what blue?

For some reason, I am unable right now to cut and paste.

Anyway, before you do anything else, go to the main page of this Colored Stones section. Look at the top few threads that are pinned. There are two that should help you a lot. The first is called "New to Colored Gemstone Buying? Read this first!" and the second is the "List of Vendors for Reference." These should be a big help in your search. Unless you have a preference for an astrological gemstone vendor, Gemfix, Spectral Gems, Mastercut, Finewater, and a bunch more on the list will be able to provide you good quality blue sapphires.
