It took a long time to find the right mounting for my large Portuguese cut mint garnet, but I am happy with the results.
I chose an 18k white gold setting (from Ebay) with nearly a carat of full cut VS1 F color diamonds to halo it.
The color changes so much depending on the light source.
WOW IS RIGHT! What an incredible stone! Huge, "glowy", and awesome in a variety of lighting! Did you find the setting on eBay and then have a local jeweler set it? The setting looks great, and fits the stone well. So glad you can wear it!
Thanks Lovedogs, yes. I found the setting on Ebay and it took while. Stuller is getting too expensive for me. Even my jeweler (he is a designer and bench jeweler) said this setting would be expensive from Stuller. I guess setting it wasn't a piece of cake, but I think he did a wonderful job.
That is one gorgeous honker! Please more photos - I swear, I never get tired of seeing Merelanis; its like they're the super models of the stone world!
