Help with mounting my new spessartite?

I would love some ideas in mounting my new spessartite. It is 9mm portuguese cut round, so the belly will be deep. I would prefer 18k yellow gold with minimum diamond accents. Delicate is not a priority.

i prefer your #1 fav. offers protection for the spess and yet allows the color to come through. this would be a great choice....much better than the pronged solitaire.

I would set it with a 18K yellow gold halo. I know, I'm unoriginal. If you wanted to add other stones to it, I think it would look fab with chrysoberyl trillion or small round sides, or mint garnets if you can find a small matching pair.

What would really be cool is if you could find a halo with small prasiolites, or small cabbed minty prehnites all around it. Swoon

I found a ring on ebay that is surrounded by prehnites. Perhaps something a bit more delicate, but you get the idea.

I also like the BGD bezel more than the Tiffany prong setting from WF. I like how the bottom of the stone would be visible in the bezel setting.

I also think that prehnite halo is really interesting. I don't know if that would make it more formal than I'd like, but I really like the combination of the two stones.

I love orange and minty green, so any kind of minty green stone would work, even minty tourmaline.

The thing I like about prehnite is that is looks like a minty green moonstone, and it would give striking contrast to the sparkle/scintillation of the orange garnet, without taking anything away from it.

I couldn't agree more. I set one of mine in white gold and it looks HORRIBLE. Please don't be tempted to use white gold anywhere near it. Your first bezel photo but all in yellow gold would look amazing.

As I continue to look at possible mountings, I am more and more certain that the first, halo mount from BGD is the ONE. I agree that it should all be done in 18k, including the bezel.

I'm even so entranced with this ring that I've dreamed of remounting my diamond into this. What sleek, lush, gorgeous gold. Mmmmm.....

i'm pleased you're sticking to #1.....and all 18k gold will be wonderful. your stone can hold its own as the star of its own show and does not need supporting characters. in that particular setting it will be a show stopper. congrats on NOT going with a halo! yes, i still don't care for them........

Very pretty, I LOVE round stones in squarish halos. Reminds me a bit of the deco period, but with a more streamlined modern take.

If you want to enjoy your stone now, the budget method is the way to go, but if you have patience, or you don't mind overspending on metal, than I would do the other option.

Gold estimates are all over the place. It boils down to whether you believe that countries will control their debt problem and spending deficits or not. If you go by the first scenario, then economies will become more stable and gold goes down. If you don't, then the economy will still stink and gold will keep rising.

I have a client who seriously believes in rising gold prices and has put his money where his mouth is. I love him, since I get to turn his gold stash into jewelry for his wife.

i'd get the ring made sooner rather than later.....no intention of raining on your parade....i happen to favor 18k or higher yellow gold. get it now before it gets more expensive.
