Consult an expert about recutting.
If it is deep that means light has to travel through more colored material and recutting it to make it more shallow may reduce the color, unless they cause the light to reflect more times before exiting out the top. You really need an expert on cutting FCDs. There is a good chance it has already been cut to optimize the color and weight for that rough. Plus if it is damaged on the cutting wheel it is your loss. Can't wait for pics.

HAHA, Might help if I spell green right!
I think it was just cut for weight. The belly is FAT. The girdle is about 1mm thick, and it has a beer gut. The measurments are 5.81*4.89*3.86. |

I can't see your photo because PS2.0 doesn't work properly for IE6.0 (my work computer), but my green diamond also has a metallic luster as well. It's very fascinating to look at and I wear it everyday!! Dying to see yours when I get home!!

Recutting a diamond can be very pricey as they are not like recutting another gemstone. I would keep it as is. I will say my stone is round cut brilliant with arrows, and very dispersive and fun to look at, as these diamnds can go very dark in some lightng, so good cutting does help. However, the loss of weight and the price to recut may not be worth it, in all honesty. They do also go more green in the sun due to the fluor. |

Ok, here are pictures!!!
It looks its absolutely best outdoors in natural light and direct sunlight. It goes dark in office lighting and looks like poop. But in natural light it has a leaf green color and bright. I looked at it under a scope at a store and it was soooo cool. The green and yellow danced in it with the bright light. I do not see any grey like in the DIA report, but whateva! The stone was a SOB to photograph. It keeps wanting to show brown...there is no brown in the stone though, so any in the pics are just camera issues. You can see the green flour in some of the pictures though. Its really cool and I have never seen green flour. And more good news I am sure some of you will enjoy...ITS BEING SET! I bought a setting for it today at a local jewelers. It will be a yellow gold "lotus"head, and a white gold shank.

That is really cool! That metallic luster is really interesting. Almost makes me like diamonds cuz it's different!

I see a rather neon color in it...but then in some of the pictures it looks a little olive. Really cool!

Congrats on the diamond! It's a very interesting color, I like it. I would strongly discourage re-cutting, fancy diamonds are always cut to maximize color. You could change the color and/or damage the stone in the process.

It looks to be a very pretty diamond. I can't wait to see how you set it. FCD's are a pain to properly photograph in my experience. They really need to be seen in videos or IRL to be appreciated. Thanks for the pics!!
ETA: you may want to ask the mods to change the title of this thread for you. If people are looking up "Green diamonds" in topics, they won't be able to find this.

Im not recutting it. Thought about it and then changed my mind. I saw zoning bands in it, and I would hate to mess those up.

Ok...on my iPad the color looks like an ugly yellow brown. But on my tower it looks true to life green. What color is everyone else seeing?

Like an olive-ish green. You can never capture gems as IRL unfortunately.... I long for the day when greens are accurate in cameras;-)

Yes, on my good monitor, it looks olive (yellowish brownish green), but like Josh said, it's difficult to capture the color on camera. I can imagine what it probably looks like in person since I have a few greyish greens.

Well I'm glad you understand the problems with photographing. In natural light it is very green, like leaf green. Not the olive yuck Im Seeing on my pod. In artificial light it is more olive yellow. It's more of an outside stone lol.
How do I contact the mods to change the title? I was in a hurry and mistyped it :p. |

Next to where you hit reply there's a "report concern" button, you can type in your comments
I happen to love all shades of green and think your diamond is absolutely stunning... it's very unique and I doubt you'll find anyone with anything similar in your day-to-day, how about sharing some of that luck you've had lately?

Thank you all. You will love the setting I picked out!
I went I to a designer store expecting to pay an arm and a leg, but found a simple cathedral 14kt white gold setting for 90$! I ordered a 14k yellow gold lotus head for it for 75$, and they are setting the stone and sizing for free. So the whole setting will be 165$ completed and set. Will look super pretty. Iwill post pics next week week when it's done! |

Hi,
I love your diamond. It is another great find! How is your necklace coming, the pink and blue tourmaline? My jaw dropped on that layout. Anything new? Annette |
