I don't post photos as often as I should, so I am going to try to remedy that.

I'm a "friend" of Jim's (and some other cutters) on that site where people are "friends" (LOL), so I got intrigued when he advertised that he had some rough from Kenya that should yield a stone similar to the one in his article http://www.pricescope.com/journal/cushion-cutting-step-step because I really liked that stone in his thread. I contacted him and the process began!

The garnet is 10.5 x 8.5mm and is 4.35 carats and more the color of a cranberry than a raspberry (like many rhodolites I've seen). My apologies to Jim for my lousy photos, but I think you'll get the idea. It more the color of the pavillion up photo IRL.
