I know when I first started searching here I was looking at pictures of smaller stones because I was worried that I would never be able to afford a large enough stone and that it would look silly on my hand.
This is my sister's natural, unheated, 3 stone sapphire e-ring. The centre stone is around .85 carats, about 5.5x4.5 mm and it looks pretty good on her size 5 fingers.

Really pretty, gorgeous color, and a good reminder of how to make a showy ring w/a smaller stone. Thanks for posting.

Oh how gorgeous is that ring?
I like the small stones myself, tiny bundles of concentrated color ! :))

Thats a lovely ring. As much as I love some of the rings I have above that 1ct mark, I still have my sub carat favorites!

Remember it’s about colour quality, not size in the coloured stone world. A small stone with fine colour will catch the eye more often than a large drab stone. Kribbie, that’s a lovely ring and stone there – an excellent example.

If color is saturated and fine, a small stone can make a huge impact. Thanks for posting that lovely ring!!

yes, color trumps all in the color stone world!

lovely ring. thanks for the hand shot. i'd rather see people go for a smaller stone and get better quality.

Good thread!

I agree MoZo! Quality is the key! Better to have a little piece of fire than a larger lusterless lump! (IMO)
I am looking to get a smaller stone e-ring myself primarily due to budget constraints, but also because after trying on smaller stones I like how they are naturally more delicate and softer looking on my finger. This also has to do with the differences in the style of setting too.

I also feel that with daily use and such that a smaller stone(s) set closer to the finger might have less chance to get bunged up and so you'd be able to preserve the original quality of the stone for a greater period of time.

Very sweet e-ring and picture kribbie! May I ask where it came from???

Maybe in this thread, maybe a new one or a different forum all together or maybe it exists already? But one where people show off their "lil" gems in e-rings or RHRs!

Thanks for sharing kribbie!

Good idea freewheelin. I often see people look for quantity over quality so to speak, and it confuses me. The stones all came from the natural sapphire company, and if I'm not mistaken they did the setting too.
If anyone has a smaller (below 1 carat) e-ring or rhr to share, please do so. I would love to see them.
