Here's the AIGS website page for their heat treatment categories. If there is a foreign substance found, then it has been flux treated.
Flux filled gems are very very common. They're readily all over the place, so when spending a significant amount on a gem, it's important to get them checked out by a reputable lab. http://www.aigslaboratory.com/AIGSPage.aspx?mID=3&sID=66&type=NewDisclosureCommentsforHeatProcess AGL also discloses this. Both are sophisticated labs and would be capable of determining flux and the type. |
