I have a ring with a pink stone in it that my hubby bought for me on our one year dating anniversary (about 6 years ago). I''m not sure if it''s pink sapphire or pink cz however I''m leaning towards cz. Anyway, it''s was hanging out in storage for four years until I ran across it this evening. When I first pulled it out of the box it was a very light pink, and now that I''ve had it on for a bit it has turned into a vivid pink (I''ll try to get some pics tomorrow after my batteries have charged). Anybody know what might cause this?

Thanks!

Does it have a lot of fire (a lot of flashes of light in all kinds of colors, coming from the stone)? That''s a first telltale of CZ''s, as their dispersion is much stronger than that of like 99% of natural stones. I''ve never heard of a gemstone that becomes more vividly pink with exposure to light, but I''ve heard of the oppoiste - kunzite becomes less pink if you keep it in sunlight, and can even become colorless over time.

I don''t think you can find out what it is without taking it to a gemologist.

Some dust on the stone cleared as you''ve been wearing it around?
Condensate burned off allowing the colour to come through? (This happens to me a lot because I keep my gems in a rather cold place)
Different lighting as you move around to a different part of the house?
