definitely will set it in a ring, because of the size of the stone it will be for my pointer or middle fingers

I have a few ideas for it definitely halo, French cut with either champagne diamonds or ruby/mahenge spinels, split or trio shank. probably platinum

I have to say, after spending so much time lurking around in this forum, and seeing all of your lovelies I have a major itch to start collecting some of my own!!

A while back I posted a thread after I got an inherited Aquamarine back from the cutter (it still has a small window, but the scratch is long gone and it looks much better) and just today I picked it up in its new setting i did not take it back to the first place- I took it to the jeweler my husband's family uses. They were holding out on us! I wish we'd known when we were getting my e-ring, they're great! I had the Aqua set in a 14k Stuller mount, and I am so happy. The lady at the previous shop didn't believe it was an Aqua based on color, but it's been tested and it definitely is!

Thank you! According to family, my Grandpa received this in a parcel of gems from a Brazilian man, and the diamond in the parcel is definitely from Brazil and supposedly the other stones were too. I don't know if there is a way to tell where a stone comes from, but it's a fun story all the same

I'm not used to wearing large stones at all, but I'm sure I'll get over it, ha!!

New stone, 1.82ct greenish blue tourmaline.
I like the color! I place it next to an apatite it's even more saturated than the apatite.
This picture does not do the stone justice.

Moonstone spam over... for now. Very happy with my new additions. Definately on a loose stone ban now to get some things set (although I do have some stuff in the mail)

I just bought this Tourmaline, for $80.00 I couldn't pay fast enough. I especially like the fact that they're being mined in the USA, California. I was aware of nice blues coming out of Maine but not California, is this a new mine?

OMG that's beautiful, and I think it would be great to buy a stone out of the state I live in I've also never heard of tourmaline coming out of CA--I only know about Maine. May I ask where you purchased it?

No, I believe the mine has been around producing for quite a while; it almost seems like it was dormant for a while and within the last few years I've been hearing about it again, but that could just be me paying attention again. Anyway, as usual Greg, you have gotten another lovely stone. I hope you will share your hand shots and impressions when it arrives.

Today Jill Anish is shipping these two rings to me - I'm thrilled with how they both turned out - the Red Carnelian and the Aquaprase cabs are from Barry/Art Cut Gems - can't wait to receive the parcel! [The Aquaprase color-wise looks muted in the vendor photo; I expect/hope it will be brighter and glowy like it was when it was loose.]



I also bought several stones from Rick Martin / Art Cut Gems, mostly cabochons but also a pair of Yellow Beryl cushions that I couldn't resist (picturing them in a bypass ring)...

I haven't taken my own pictures yet, so for now David's will do. A big thanks to Elle (of The Gemstone Project) for yet again helping me with the proportions and gallery. I love this ring!

Gorgeous!!! I love it. Great ring, and the color is eye popping. I NEED handshots. Pretty please.
