book - ruby and sapphire

There was mention of a book recently - called 'rubies and sapphires' - by, I think, Hughes? Author/publisher, not sure. This book is rare yes, and out of print?

Does anyone have more detailed information on it? I did a quick search, but wasn't sure what I was looking for.

As an aside - can anyone recommend some good gem books...lots of lush pictures and information - really just for viewing and reading pleaure!
