Blue or Cognac??

Cognac for me, slurp slurp. Love the color & saturation. I wouldn't turn down those settings either.

if i had that kind of $ i'd buy both.......

i can't separate out cut and setting. while i like champagnes, i'd go for the blue if i could only have one as i like the diamond cut and the setting better.

Blue.

Oh, blue for sure!!!! But I am a sucker for blue stones.

IMHO, a top-quality natural blue emerald cut diamond is the most beautiful and desirable of ALL diamonds - by a very wide margin.

I like them even more than red, green, pink, violet or orange.

Even if I only considered the hue itself, it would be the blue by a landslide if I could have only one FCD...but then again ... green's pretty cool.
And red ain't too shabby.

You know, the only clear answer is an FCD collection.

Blue. I have to say though that I find other colored stones (cobalt blue spinel or velvety blue sapphires) more alluring for blue. I do like yellow diamonds, however, because it is somewhat easy to find good saturation and I can't think of any yellow stones that have the pure yellow, hardness and light dispersion of yellow diamonds.

I'd go for the blue for sure.

Definitely the blue. Blues are so remarkable. Pity that they are the most commonly lab created or enhanced colour

give it 200 years and maybe there will be no natural browns (they were all enhanced to pinks and blue) and they will be the most valuable colour

Definitely blue by a long shot. Firstly, I love blue more than brown. Secondly, blue diamonds are rarer than cognacs. Thirdly, I love step cuts.

Not sure the two are comparable because:-

1. Cognac (brown diamonds) are typically untreated and quite plentiful in supply.

2. Blue diamonds are rare and not plentiful - plus for a decent size one, you have to sell your first born! Affordable blue diamonds are typically treated so it's like comparing apples and oranges when you look at blues and cognacs.

So which do I prefer - well the blue if I had the money (probably never in my lifetime though)!

I love both designs and they're quite different. The cognac earrings/necklace are great for parties. The blue ring is something that could be worn all the time - although if that's a blue diamond then you'd need an armed escort! I have a feeling that that ring was recently sold for millions if it's the one I'm thinking of!

I totally agree. Cognac diamonds, while very pretty, are just not in the same league as natural color fancy blues.
