You should talk to a diamond lapidary. The best cut will depend on the exact shape of the rough, any flaws that have to be avoided or cut out, how to achieve the best balance of colour/sparkle/weight retention, etc. This is quite specialized knowledge.

another blue. a total of 3 blues and 3 greens are shown here. i want to cut these as my first step into the esoteric world of diamonds. i am an amateur in this field. and where i live, it is not a good atmosphere for showing off these beauties. and good technical advice is impossible to get.

Agreed. Also, I do not know if GIA India will test rough, but if they are local to you, you can always email or call them to inquire.

I suspect these have been irradiated to get the colour - it may be worth getting that checked as well.

ok! will have to check for that, too. but it is very unlikely, given their source and history.

Glad to hear that they were graded as natural! They were gorgeous as rough so I can only imagine they are stunning now cut.

Re: a suitable cut for these uncut colour diamonds (green, b

i am very sorry. i am out of town, in one of the cutting centers. in my hurry, while posting from a public computer, i forgot to check if the pics have been uploaded.
actually, it all went like this: i sent three smaller stones for an experimental cutting; they came back a few days ago. they were all small: 0.15 ct, 0.12 ct and 0.14 ct. i took some snaps with my iphone, and tried to upload one. and it was a a failure.
after that, i have personally come over to this lapidary for cutting all the stones. it will take quite a few days, as their work load is heavy. so i have to wait.
meanwhile, here is a pic i have. the stone is in the hollow of my palm; sorry for the ad-hoc amateur photo!

1. this is 0.15 ct; the most experienced cutter said he had rarely seen this intensity. but it is yet to be sent for a lab test.
2. the one green i cut was not good. the colour was very faint.
3. am camping with the bigger stones. lets see.
4. yet to trust any photographer!
