it is! i wouldn't say it is the end all be all of wedding books, but it's worth the $5 on amazon

it made me a little sad because the author appeared to have so many great friends around her, which isn't really my situation, but other than that (which is a totally personal issue obviously) it is definitely a worthwhile and thought provoking read. I read it a little too fast (it seems like you're supposed to read it throughout your engagement), but will go back and reread the last third of the book when the wedding gets closer.

ETA: stefan and i read it together, which i recommend, even though it is definitely geared towards women.

I think it''s excellent!  It''s written by the woman who created the TV show "Touched by an Angel," which I used to watch when it was being aired.  I was just in the local huge bookstore a month or two ago and saw the book in the wedding section.  So mine was a little more than $5 hehe, but I really like what I''ve read of it so far.  I''m about 1/4 of the way through.

As I said in the other thread, I really like how she puts it plainly that you need to only have people at the wedding who honestly support you - no one who doesn''t.  A wedding is a sacred event and is between the two people and God, not just the two people.  So she talks about how it''s very much about the spirit of everything and your own motives and thoughts, not just about reading verses and singing and making things look pretty.

Hehe and mimzy, I also feel the very same as you about how she seems to have lots of friends, and she had two sisters who were in the wedding with her.  Haha I have only one sibling (a 4 years younger brother), a semi-good friend who sometimes gets on my nerves and had a huge not-my-style-at-all wedding last summer, and my brother''s girlfriend I really like a lot.  So I feel your pain about not having many close friends, and I do wonder who I would actually have up there with me.  I think I''d choose my brother''s GF, but I always wonder what would happen if they ever broke up - would it be awkward to look back at the wedding?  My life just doesn''t create a lot of chances to get out and "make new friends."  Well, we''ll see when that time comes to choose.

And I do plan to get my BF to read the book, or at least some of it including the part the woman''s husband wrote.  BF is very much on the same page as me as far as what we want the wedding to be for.
