Here''s a closeup of the bustle-in-progress. My seamstress used ribbon ties and numbered them so the girls will know exactly which two go together. I don''t know if this is a common practice, but I think it''s genius! She also used ribbons because they can double-knot them so there''s little chance that they''ll come undone with all that dancing.
You can see some of the numbers here:

The real bustle, no pins this time! I love it just as much as I did when she pinned it up last week.
I also have NO idea how all that tying leads to this, but oh well, I think it''s gorgeous. (There are 18 sets of ribbons to tie for the bustle, by the way!)

Clearly not related, but I snapped a picture of all the iPod shuffles we bought for our bridal party. They were just too cute.
We got my MOH (sister) wii Rockband or something, and FI''s best man (brother) an 80 GB iPod. I was a big hit at the Apple store today.

Haven it all looks so perfect! The veil works so well with the dress and the bustle - and with your hair done, it will be perfect!
I hope this isn''t offside, but how much were you quoted for your alterations? My seamstress is quoting 25 dollars per set for the bustle (like each set of ties, so you would have 18 sets!). That is crazy right? |

Haven,
Wowza!!! You look a-mazing!!! I heart that dress big time.... I found it after I found "the one" and refused to try it on and confuse myself. Maybe now that my wedding is over I''ll indulge myself since there''s no chance I''ll buy it now But let me tell you girl, that dress was made for you! And besides the fact you look stunning in it, you are absolutely beaming! Which makes it all the more beautiful! Your veil is incredible... goes so well with that dress! I love your jewelry too..... so unique, I would have never thought it would look that incredible as wedding jewelry! Great find and different too! What are you doing with your hair???? You''re getting married in Chicago, right? What part? We have many weddings there this year! I grew up there and miss it desperately! |

Thank you blinkydoll, Skippy, Sarah, goldenstar, kara, October and Neveah!
Kara--I wish I could send you my veil! Wait, can I? I''d TOTALLY let you borrow it for your wedding. I feel like I should find as many brides as possible who want to wear it because I paid so darn much for it. I just looked up your wedding date, August 9th--I could definitely have it out to you by then! (I wonder if Andrey could put us in touch with each other!) I''m definitely hoping at least one of my sisters will use the veil, too. October--We paid $375 for alterations which is steep, I know. BUT, I love my bridal shop and I wanted them to do it since I trust them. And thank goodness I did, I adore my bustle! With my bustle your shop would have charged me $450 for just that. Does that quote include all other alterations, like bust, waist, hip, and hem? Mine was a flat fee for everything, and they were willing to bring me in and alter it as many times as it took to get it perfect. Neveah--I''m wearing my hair down, with loose curls, and a lot of loooong extensions. I''m excited. We live and are getting married in Highland Park--do you know the area? We''re about two blocks from Ravinia, if that helps. I grew up here too, in Buffalo Grove, which is a bit farther west. I''m pretty sure we''ll be rooted here forever, I love Chicago and all my family is here. Thanks again! I know I''m camera crazy! |

Yes, I realized after I posted you had hair trial pics post.... it is perfect!!! I was thinking that the dress demands long romantic hair! I can''t wait to see your wedding pics!! I grew up in Bartlett, Barrington, Palatine.... I know right where Higland Park is. I moved to Cincinnati for a job that was supposed to be for just a year, and met hubby so we are rooted here now. I would love to move back one day. I consider it my home. But on to more important things!!! One more week!!! WOO HOO!!! Congrats and enjoy every second!!! |

I know a lot of people who teach at Barrington High School! I teach in another suburban high school a bit farther north, how funny!
At least you get to eat delicious Cincinnati chili whenever you want. My mom has a good friend from her Northwestern days who is from Cincinnati and she introduced my mom to the chili in college, and we''ve been shipping in the spices ever since! I ate at a restaurant that serves real Cincinnati chili in Orlando, of all places. I can''t remember the name, but it''s a huge chain in Cincinnati. (Red and blue logo, I think.) Ugh, now I''m hungry. :) |

PERFECT!! I was in a wedding this last October in Palos Hills and we had Lou''s for the RD. I almost busted out of my BM dress the next day but it was SOOO worth it! That was one of the best RD I have ever been to... so chilled and fun. Great choice! |

So much fun when it all comes together
You, (of course) look smashing - everything is just perfect together, and I love that its all a little bit "different" nothing cookie-cutter boring, but still all gorgeous and it comes together perfectly. And your excitement and joy just shine through in all of the pictures. You are going to be a fabulously lovely bride - can''t wait to pics!!![]() ![]()
