We got a card at our wedding with cash inside, and we can''t tell who it''s from!

The card is signed, but the signature doesn''t match ANYONE we invited to the wedding! We''ve gone over and over our list, and the signature doesn''t resemble anyone invited.

We''ve asked our parents to look at it to see if they would read the signature any differently than we were, but they thought it looked like the same thing we did, which is a name no one knows anyone by, let alone anyone who came to the wedding.

So now what do we do? There was a good amount of cash in the card, so I really feel like a jerk not thanking whoever gave it to us. And the card was in the CARD BOX at the wedding, so it really makes me think it''s from someone who was actually THERE! Any suggestions on figuring out this mystery?

Was there someone who didn''t make it.. and maybe a family member or someone else brought the gift?? Check your initial invite list too!

Maybe by elimination? If you put a checklist next to everyone else that you know what they give you, then you''ll at least narrow it down?

We''ve gone over both lists, both those who attended and EVERYONE invited, and there isn''t a single name that it resembles!

Why don''t you check off all of the gifts you received and balance against the list. Then scruitinize the people who have no gift next to their name. Maybe that will help.

Okay, this is going to sound crazy...

But was there another wedding at the same venue as you the same night as yours?

This actually happens a lot, but it could have been a guest from their wedding who accidently put their card in your box

...or...

perhaps it was the escort/date of one of your guests who provided their own gift to you?

We definitely looked specifically at the people (both just invited and in attendance) who we did not get a gift from, but the name clearly doesn''t match any of them.

And we were the only wedding at the venue, plus the fact that our names are on the card. That''s what''s really killing me...there''s this personal note saying to the effect "Dear J and M, we are so happy for you, and know you two are starting a wonderful live together! Love Ya, The alsdkjfadls''s"

This is driving me nuts!

Would it be super tacky to just have your mom call around?

The mystery is solved!!!! My BROTHER finally told me that he had put it in the card box, and it was from a girl I had known growing up because our mothers were best friends. Apparently she works in the same building as him, so he sees her every once in a while, even though I haven''t seen/heard from her since MIDDLE SCHOOL! And she had signed her married name, which is why I didn''t recognize it! It was really nice that she was thinking of us, and I''m so glad to finally know who the card was from!
