Thanks ladies.
Any dresses you ladies would like to add? Lily, Mimosas are a must!  I love the coffee bar/barista idea, with the liquers. One of our good friends is a chef, so we're going to be working out the details with him. Brunches are something my FH and I love to indulge in. They can be so decadent. I'm dreaming of quiche, pastries, and croissant, omlets, OH MY! My sweetie loves eggs benedict. A brunch wedding just seems us, as well as being easier on the wallet. I just always envisioned walking down the aisle in candle light - So, that's kind of hard - but you can't have everything. I would love to do the destination thing, but my FH's grandmother cannot/will not travel. Shrug. My FH family is italian so food is a big deal to them. He insists that we must feed them all or they won't come, and will complain. I don't understand why you have to feed everyone you know on your wedding day. Especially now when the couple is so frequently the ones paying for the wedding. Personally if it were up to me we'd get married in the evening, and have a nice dessert buffet, but that's out of the question. Compromise, it's all about compromise. Any other dresses you ladies would like to share? I'm just trying to brainstorm here - to get ideas for what to look for. Possibilities. Ideas for what might work for a morning wedding. Scintillating, I love that Casablanca dress & think it''d be perfect for a morning wedding! I''ll keep an eye out for some other options. What are you looking for in a gown?
A brunch reception would be delicious--so many tasty options! (And it''s also much more cost effective than a dinner.) I agree--it''s too bad we have to feed all of our wedding guests. It gets so expensive. My FI loves eggs benedict too! We make it pretty frequently. Yum!

A ballgown is for balls... and balls are not held in the morning. Sparkling is also not a morning thing (glowing is preferred) so very heavy, sparkly beading is out, as well as diamond jewelry (except your rings!
.) Strapless is also more appropriate in later hours. It's fortunate you aren't envisioning a beaded, strapless ballgown! Last rule is concerning floor-length dresses; floor-length is also reserved evening. However, that rule only applies to your guests. And, oh, alright, I guess some sparkly jewelry would be fine as long as it's limited.How many guests? Religious ceremony? |

I''m loving this idea of a morning wedding! Especially the brunch and coffee bar. Where is the location of your wedding? I think that could also determine the attire - formal church or outside park, etc? This thread gave me a great idea for my own - We are getting married in Hawaii, so a morning wedding sounds like a great idea to me. Serving brunch (less $$ than dinner - less alcohol), then maybe a round of mini golf for everyone - then the rest of the day at the resort''s pool and lagoon? What do you guys think? Our place is Hilton Waikoloa Village.

Scintillating--Just curious...why is an evening wedding out of the question? I think if you''ve always had a vision for something about your wedding (ie. walking down the aisle in candlelight) you should do it!
I would envision for a morning wedding a gown that is more modest. Along the lines of what everyone has said like not a ballgown, although I think you could get away with some sparkles and I think floor length would be okay but not a train (I think a "sweep" would be okay but a chapel train might be too much). |
And you know what, I didn''t think twice about it!! So I suggest you don''t either!! Just find the perfect dress for you and run with it. Morning, evening, 3am....wear whatever makes you happy!

I think that i would notice a discrepancy more depending on the style/feel of the wedding rather than the time of day. if you were going more elaborate all-out decadent wedding, i wouldn''t bat an eye at a sparkly gown in the morning. but if the wedding is more toned down, the dress should match. same as for a wedding at any time of day...your dress should match the tone of your wedding. i loooove the brunch coffe liquer mimosa idea!!! budget friendly but oh so good! my fiancee and i love to indulge in brunches also...fun fun fun!

I totally agree with you, Rascal....I didn''t think twice about the dress, either...and the couple had tons of yummy-smelling candles glowing... whatever dress you wear, Scintillating- if you''re comfortable in it, it will be perfect! |

You''ve echoed a lot of what I''ve been thinking. You''re all absolutely right. It does very much need to echo the tone of the event, and I need to feel comfortable in it. I knew you''d all say that. : ) - That it''s my day and I can wear what I like. I guess I am looking for ideas, we''re still in the brainstorming stage. Most of the wedding dresses out there are clearly designed for evening weddings - I was just wondering if you all had any suggestions/ideas for dresses that you could see worn in the morning. I was hoping for help with a clearer vision of what a dress for this kind of wedding might look like. A couple more details: We were both raised catholic. Though you can''t really change much in a catholic ceremony, that''s probably what we''d opt for - a Mass, and the whole deal. My family church is turn of the century and quite ornate. Detailed plaster moldings everywhere, elaborate cathedral ceiling, columns, hardwood aisle, large stained glass windows, the whole deal. I''m not really that ornate/elaborate a person though so we probably wouldn''t do much to the church. For the reception: I''d love somewhere cozy, and warm, and kind of homey - somewhere you could really enjoy a nice sunny brunch with family and friends. We''d like to keep it a small wedding, 50-60ish. I''d love to use this venue, but we''ll see if they''ll do morning. ; ) If this helps at all, I''m 5.6, 135 lbs, a size 8/10 in everyday dresses. The two biggest problema are: I''m sadly a double D (yes sadly) and I''m SHORTWAISTED. I have a waist, but not a tiny one like Brightspot, a few extra around the middle, and smallish hips. PLEASE - Any ideas ladies? Just throw out some pics! Yes, I know go out and try dresses on. ; ) Scintillating...

Your church sounds gorgeous! It almost seems you'd need a gown with a bit of a presence to look right in the church, ya know? What time of year will your wedding be? (did I miss that somewhere?)
Thanks for the sweet compliment on my waist, btw, but I'm sure your looks much tinier than mine, especially when compared w/ your bust! Sounds like you have a stunning hourglass figure! I've been looking at a lot of MS chiffon dresses lately & something like this (MS Yasmin) might look lovely for your morning wedding (better for a spring/summer ceremony than a winter/fall one, though) It would showcase your waist & provide a bit of coverage on the bust. It's fairly simple, but has some decoration, but no beading. It also has a nice train, but I don't think it'd be too much for a morning wedding. Now imagine a mimosa in her hand...   |

I''m assuming that a strapless is out of the question for you...so the ones I posted have straps and more coverage. I agree, though, with BrightSpot that if you are in an ornate church it would be appropriate to wear something more elaborate than these I"ve posted.
