101.73-Carat "Winston Legacy" Diamond Sets Auction Record at Christie's Geneva

The 101.73-carat diamond dubbed "Absolute Perfection" sold for over $26.7 million at Christie's Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva on May 15, setting a new world auction record for a colorless diamond. The D-color, flawless, pear-shaped diamond was acquired by Harry Winston and has been named the "Winston Legacy."

75-Carat Briolette Diamond, Exceptional Emeralds to Highlight Christie's Hong Kong Auction

Christie's Hong Kong is offering the largest briolette-cut diamond to ever appear at auction at its upcoming Magnificent Jewels sale on May 28, 2013. Weighing 75.36 carats, the D color, type IIa, and internally flawless briolette diamond is suspended from a marquise-cut purplish-pink diamond. The diamond necklace is expected to fetch between $8.5 million and $12.5 million.

Fancy Colored Diamonds to Dazzle at Sotheby's Hong Kong Spring 2013 Auction

An important selection of rare fancy-colored diamonds will be among the highlights of Sotheby's Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite auction on April 8, 2013, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. Notable pieces include a 3.04-carat heart-shaped fancy-intense blue diamond ring with surrounding pink and white diamonds. The rare blue diamond ring is expected to fetch between $2 and 2.5 million.

Bonhams to Auction Rare Blue Diamond Ring by Bulgari

A rare 5.30-carat blue diamond ring will lead Bonhams Fine Jewelry sale on April 24, 2013. The fancy deep blue diamond is set in a Bulgari "Trombino" ring, made circa 1965. The ring is expected to fetch £1,000,000 to £1,500,000 ($1.6 to $2.4 million) at Bonhams' upcoming auction.

Sotheby's to Auction Jewels of Estée and Evelyn Lauder for Breast Cancer Research

Jewels from the personal collections of the late Estée Lauder and her daughter-in-law Evelyn will be auctioned at Sotheby's on December 5. More than 35 pieces, including rare colorless and fancy-colored diamond jewels by Oscar Heyman & Brothers, Graff, and Van Cleef & Arpels, are expected to fetch over $13 million. Proceeds from the sale of the Lauders' collections will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, an organization founded by Evelyn Lauder in 1993.

Rare Red Diamond, 50-carat Graff Diamond Ring to Highlight Christie's December Sale

Christie's plays on the popular holiday colors of red and green with its upcoming Magnificent Jewels sale in New York. The auction house is offering a rare fancy reddish-orange diamond of 3.15 carats, a D-color diamond ring of 50.01 carats by Graff, and a three-stone ring comprised of Colombian emeralds at the December 10 sale.

76-Carat Archduke Joseph Diamond Fetches $21.5 Million

On November 13, the legendary Archduke Joseph Diamond sold for a record $21.5 million at Christie's Geneva Magnificent Jewels action. The 76-carat diamond was the property of the Archduke Joseph August of Austria, Palatine of Hungary (1872-1962). The D-color and internally-flawless clarity diamond was named after the Archduke, who was the great-grandson of Emperor Leopold II and King Louis Philippe of France through his father and mother respectively.

Royal Jewels to Lead Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels Sale

Sotheby's Geneva will present a selection of jewels with royal and noble provenance at its November 14, 2012 Magnificent Jewels sale. Highlights include a rare conch pearl, enamel, and diamond bracelet formerly owned by Queen Victoria Eugenia of Spain (1887-1969). Cartier created the bracelet in the late 1920s in the "tutti frutti" style of the period, though the use of conch pearls was unusual for the time. The bracelet is expected to fetch between $800,000 and $1.4 million.
