Statement Necklaces Take Center Stage at the 2013 SAG Awards
Mon, 28 Jan 2013By Erika Winters
Necklaces took center stage at the 19th-annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Looks ranged from classic diamonds by Harry Winston and Chopard to bold color from Irene Neuwirth. We were particularly taken with Les Miserables star Amanda Seyfried's long Art Deco-inspired necklace by Lorraine Schwartz and Cougar Town actress Busy Philipps' one-of-a-kind opal creation from Neuwirth. We hope to see the long statement necklace trend continue at the upcoming 2013 Academy Awards.

Surprise Proposal? Yes. Surprise Engagement Ring? Eh, Not So Much.
Fri, 25 Jan 2013By Erika Winters
Surprise! She said yes! She loves you! But the ring? Not so much. It doesn't suit her lifestyle, her tastes, or her sensibilities--it's just not her. While some women will be over-the-moon with a surprise engagement ring, many will not. And it feels a little odd to be writing something so obvious, but times have changed. Couples are getting married later in life, women are earning more than ever before, mangagement rings are on the rise, and same-sex couples can marry...in some countries and U.S. states anyway. So why are men still picking out the engagement ring? And should they? The answer is definitely up to the couple, but we hope that both parties are involved in the decision.

Window shopping is a great way to learn about her tastes. You may think she wants a simple solitaire when she has her eyes set on an ornate halo style like this Beaudry Couture engagement ring.

Blush but Not Bashful: Pink Diamonds for Valentine's Day
Tue, 22 Jan 2013By Erika Winters
Shy and sweet? Pink diamonds are anything but, and when it comes to value, these blush-hued stones command serious attention. The jewelry world watched with bated breath as the 24.78-carat Graff Pink set a new world record, selling at Sotheby's Geneva for $46 million in 2010. Don't have millions to spend on pink diamonds? No worries. The petal-pink gems, though rare, are being offered by more jewelers than ever before--and in a variety of sizes and prices. From Tiffany's $2 million pink pear-shaped diamond ring to Leibish & Co.'s $2,500 fancy-intense purplish pink pendant, there are many ways to add a special touch of pink this Valentine's (or any!) Day.
